This post brought tears to my eyes I as similarly reminisce about my own grandmother who died a this past August after a 15 year battle with breast cancer. (Incidentally, her name was LaVerne. She was 70.) The song "Save a place for me" by Matthew West comes to mind. "I bet it feels good to have the weight of this world off your shoulders now. I'm just dreaming of the day when I've finally there with you." I think of beautiful spring gardens, colored Easter eggs and summers in the San Juan Islands. Thank you again for your emotion stirring, elegant prose. It's good to know I'm not the only one who has bittersweet memories vividly embedded on my heart.

Hi Jeffrey,
Haven't commented on your site before but I am a faithful reader! This piece is really lovely and certainly a good close to Holy Week. A joyous Easter, indeed!
