IT’S OFFICIAL: Variety makes the Del Toro - Hobbit announcement.
April 24, 2008 by Jeffrey Overstreet
It’s time to bring Bag End back to New Zealand. Here comes The Hobbit!
Del Toro’s moving to New Zealand for the next four years to work with Jackson and his Wingnut and Weta production teams. He’ll direct the two films back to back, with the sequel dealing with the 60-year period between “The Hobbit” and “The Fellowship of the Ring,” the first of the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

I’m so excited.
Anybody else with me on Ron Perlman as the voice of Smaug and Federico Luppi as Gandalf?
Such hardship, moving to New Zealand. Ah well, we must suffer for our art.
Or something like that.
Wait a minute…”the sequel dealing with the 60-year period between ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’”?
I’m getting my barf bag now. And digging up my “PJ is a false prophet who tickles your eyes” rants.
Sigh.
